Recently I've been binging on quotes that I can find on Pinterest. I love seeing unusual, inspiring, and thought provoking things people have said. However, as I kept scrolling, I noticed a trend, and I was not pleased. Some quotes-obviously-you are not always going to agree with, it's just inevitable. So you just keep scrolling, right? Until you find something else you do like... Well apparently, for me that is not the case. Instead, I come here to rant about it.
There was one quote that really got me. I don't know who said it, probably just a general quote, but it read "Find joy in the ordinary." Some of you are probably thinking "Claire, what is the problem here? What's so bad about finding joy in ordinary things?" Nothing. Nothing is "wrong" with it. It has a lot of depth behind the quote too. Like, you can find joy in simply watching tv with family, or laughing with friends. Simple ordinary life that you should enjoy... But there is so much more than that! You shouldn't just find joy in ordinary life, you should have passion and excitement to love all the odd intricate and beautiful things life has to offer!
Im quite a dreamer, I always come up with outlandish things to do in my future. One year, I wanted to become a dolphin trainer at sea world or something... It's completely unpractical. But that's what life should be like sometimes! Don't find joy in only ordinary things, don't narrow your mind to dull simplicities, don't limit yourself to the endless possibilities life offers! It's heartbreaking to think people live such ordinary boring lives on purpose. God must have some plan greater than sitting at a cubicle. I refuse to believe that He put us on this earth to be ordinary, to think ordinary, and find joy in just the ordinary.
I plan on doing so much with my life it almost seems impossible I'll have enough time to do it all. I want to go to college, work as a flight attendant, publish books, become a surfer, travel the world, do missionary work, ride an elephant, fly in a hot air balloon, meet people from all over the world, and so much more. I plan to live a very unordinary life.
I think you should too, Claire.
