Christmas!

This year I was at a stump for what to get my family for Christmas. Fact is, everyone already has what they need and if they do ask for something it's super expensive! So I basically ignored what people might've asked because let's face it, I worked at a snow cone stand, not for Beyoncé. With that, I decided to make presents instead. During a inventive car ride with my mother, we sparked the idea of creating paintings with (most) of the "classic Ellison sayings." All of my siblings are grown, out of the house, and have their own family. With Renee two minutes away from me, Macks in North Carolina, and Zack in Texas, the distance is substantial. Yet, we all say these one liners ALL THE TIME. No matter where we are and what people we're with. I'd like to keep it that way! My siblings and their families are going to have their own sayings along the years and the original ones may be left at rest. I'm not having that. So I spray painted each canvas silver, and wrote our sayings on the personalized paintings. Each one has quotes that are more special and used by that person. For example, Macks has "okie dokie" on his canvas because he's the only one who says it. Watching my sister and brother open up these gifts was priceless. It was a gift they truly loved! Making and giving them that present was so much more rewarding than going out and buying something expensive that doesn't have any sentimental value. Only problem is, I have no idea how I'm going to top this for next year!

Happy holidays, :) Claire.

"Where are you, I saw cookies."

I would just like to tell a ridiculous little story that happened recently...
So every year, a couple days before Christmas, my mom bakes a TON of cookies. We'll have peanut butter cookies with a Hershey kiss on them, Russian Tea cakes (my favorite), and other regular random cookies. Well the day she began her cookie excursion in the kitchen, I spent the day working on the gifts I made for my family-which I will talk about later. So when it came around evening time and she was almost done baking, I went downstairs to check in on the whole operation. One, it smelled heavenly. Two, it all tasted like cookie perfection. Three, it was sooooo Instagram worthy. So after-and while- taste testing I posted a cozy little picture of the delicious masterpieces to Instagram. Seconds later a family friend commented on the photo "Where are you?" with the surprised face and heart eyes emoji. I replied innocently "Home" with a smiley emoji. Next thing you know, Jon and his pregnant wife Bridget are in my house laughing about the whole thing and eating cookies. As if that wasn't enough, then my sister calls me asking where I was and she saw cookies! Maybe next time I'll wait a little before posting such an enticing photo. But hey if I need to get people together at least I know how! Gotta love family.

Aiming to Please: Instagram

Is it just me, or is Instagram pretty much the greatest social media thing that has ever happened? Yeah, it is. And it just keeps getting better and better. I'm talking about the new filters guys. It's like they were designed for instant magical tumblr-like gold. Once I discovered them all I wanted to do was post something. Of what? Who cares! There's new filters! So seconds later went up a rando photo of me jumping in the Crema filter. I mean, it happens.. And if you didn't believe I actually did that, here's the photo.
I'm ridiculous.
