"Cropped in all the right places."
It's beginning to look a lot like... Spring! We still have some pretty chilly mornings so this outfit is perfectly ideal for the weather. Hopefully we can officially do away with the big jackets now and alternate over to raincoats. Go from hot chocolate to hot tea on Saturday mornings, put away the UGG boots, pull out the sandals, and start wearing color again?? Maybe, maybe, lets not get ahead of ourselves. I'm still working on leaning away from wearing neutrals everyday. (obviously ^)

Hope you guys enjoy a lazy Saturday indoors watching the rain and sipping hot tea like I will be :)
hey that rhymed!

"I'm not trying to save the world I'm just trying to put some ideas into song"

I recently had the privilege of interviewing YouTube musician, Ryan McQuade. He does mesmerizing piano covers of songs and has also released an album online, Songs Written From Under My Bed, compiled entirely of his own original work. What makes his talent all the more insane? He learns to play music by ear! He says, "I think there's some value in being able to hear a song and be able to play it. It's not traditional at all, but why be limited?" After pouring over his music and YouTube channel for a while, I thought it was time to get some questions answered and bring him to the blog.

I Woke Up Like This | Beauty Sleep Tips

Sleep is a very wonderful thing. It's a critical time for our bodies to recuperate, replenish, and restore. But we don't really take advantage of that, do we. Most of us run our bodies to max all day and then plop on our bed late at night and hope we wake up looking "flawless" in the morning. (Oh yeah, I just said that.) Sadly, that's not how it works. Unless, of course, you are in fact Beyonce. However for the rest of us, it takes some serious effort and time to get the most we can out of our sleep. SO lets tackle on this whole idea of Beauty Sleep.

There are many products we can use that will work all through the night to help us wake up looking and feeling beautiful, first however, we MUST cleanse. I cannot stress this enough. Going to bed with a clean face is absolutely key in ensuring waking up blemish free. After removing all make up from our face entirely, here are some steps you can take to achieve your most luxurious sleep. You'll wake up thinking you were at a spa.

1. Moisture, moisture, moisture! Especially during the winter months, our skin is always in desperate need for moisture. And while we can drink as much water as we can, sometimes our skin just needs more. Be sure to use lotion, lip balm, apply a moisturizer, and maybe even use a face balm, that way the moisture is locked in throughout the night.

2. Hair. There are many aspects to take in account of with hair. For deep conditioning and repair, use a hair mask. Apply the mask from the middle stands of hair to tip, never near the scalp, and throw your hair into a loose bun. To prevent breakage and avoid tangles, invest in a satin or silk pillowcase. They are also good for preventing wrinkling of your skin.

3. Skin. Cleanse of course, but if you struggle with acne, look into an overnight cream. The active ingredients work all through the night to treat your skin. Also be sure to change and wash your pillow case often.

4. Feet. Use a thick moisturizing balm like vaseline on your feet and put on nice socks for a long lasting moisturizing treatment.

5. Eyes. If you have trouble with puffiness, try sleeping with two pillows under your head. The elevation helps fluid stay away from your eyes. There's also of course eye creams to invest in but a quick fix with the same results is using a cooled gel face pack mask for about 15 minutes in the morning while you do your morning routine.

ACTUALLY SLEEPING

1. Get 8 hours of sleep and only drink water within the hour before going to bed. There is almost no point in snacking before bed. They are just added calories and it's harder for your body to digest them while you sleep.

2. Sleep in compete darkness, studies by the National Sleep Foundation found that artificial lighting can suppress melatonin in the body, which makes falling and staying asleep difficult. That includes anything from a TV to a clock.

3. MAKE TIME FOR SLEEP. It's nearly impossible to fall asleep right away after watching tv or being busy. Make time to wind down before bed to prepare your body and mind for sleep. Light a candel with a relaxing scent, read a book, clear your mind, or take a bath beforehand. Anything that will put your busy body into a mind set of it's time for sleep.

Now of course, trying to commit to doing all of these beauty habits would be insane. It's wonderful if you can, but first just try to incorporate a few into your routine or try some on the weekend and see if you like the results you get.

Goodnight Sleeping Beauties!
