SO today I went to Kings Dominion with my best friend, Kristen! The only other time I have gone to Kings Dominion is wayyyy back when i danced with a studio called BADD Co. and i danced to Barbie Girl in a hot pink dress. Oh such memories... At that age, i was NOT a fan of crazy rollercoasters: didn't do the upside down thing, hyperspeeds, or giant hills and drop offs. Basically i rode wooden rollercoasters, spun in teacups, and stood in a lot of lines to rides i wasn't going on. However! This summer, i went on my first upside down rollercoaster at six flags and now i'm hooked. I love them! Okay, i'll admit it now, i'm pretty much an adrenaline junky. I just love that feeling of the unknown for whatever is to come. (Hence this blog category name: Serendipity. Fun Fact! thats my favorite word.) But anyway, back to what happened today.
It all started at 8AM when i went to kristens house to steal her away for the day. We jammed out to all my new music on the 2hr long drive there, made up a new dance move-we call it the manicure, basically it's a fist pump but your hand is spread out, and we went to wawa for breakfast becuase i mean, who doesnt love a combination of chocolate milk and a chicken ceasar wrap? Yeah, i know, we're weird. When we first arrived at the park, we got lost. Okay so we just walked in the wrong direction for a long time and ended up around lousy rides. We started slow with a wooden rollercoaster, the Ricochet, and a ferris wheel-to take pictures of course. Then we did the Shock Wave. Worst. Ride. Ever. I was hurt more than i had fun. First problem, the harness that went around me only went up to my neck, it did not keep my head in place, which is basically the whole purpose of that thing. Second problem, the harsh turns on the ride at high speeds. All of this combined resulted in me hitting my jaw against the harness. I felt like i was just punched in the face. Never again will i go on that... Afterwards, Kristen and I needed to redeem ourselves with a MUCH better ride: the Volcano. HANDS DOWN BEST ROLLER COASTER AT KINGS DOMINION. We bought the pictures at the end and everything. For the next several hours we wandered throughout the park getting on whatever rides were open and near by. This included pressuring Kristen to get on the Intimidator, loving the Dominator and the indoor FBI alien rollercoaster (dont know the proper name), eating delicous strawberry frozen lemonade, randomly Manicure dancing, and killing our feet along the way. By now, many hours have passed, we are dehydrated, starving, and exhausted. But for some odd reason we decide "hey lets go on that spinning swing thing that goes really high into the air!" Like that was a good idea. So we waited in line, talked to strangers, avoided eye contact with immature cute guys, and eventually got on the swing. It went up and up and up, spun a bunch, and then casually drifted back down. While this was happening I was ranting about something stupid and that's when Kristen says ever so calmly, "Claire, why aren't we moving?..." I responded reluctantly "You know, I noticed that." We were stuck. About 200 ft in the air. For 15 minutes. I was laughing a lot about the whole situation, while on the other hand, Kristen was spazzing out. The workers kept repeating over the intercom "We are currently experiencing technical difficulties with the ride. Please sit back and relax, we will get you down soon." That speech was no help for Kristen, she was not okay. Eventually we did get down and everything was okay but we couldnt help but feel that once again we needed to redeem oursleves for this memorable-hilarious-inconvenience. So we got lost again, and then went on the Log Flume and bought our pictures from it.
And this is where our adventures came to a close. We left the park, got to the car, binged out at McDonalds, then passed out in the car. It was a very fun eventful day! And many more will come.
Stay tuned, Claire.
