For a little background I used to be that person who only went and bought bathbombs at Lush just because the rest of the store is a little expensive and I had no idea what I would buy. However, around Easter this year, my face went through chemical warfare. That's an almost literal statement... During that time of the year my skin can get really dry, and my regular moisturizer just wasn't cutting it, so I switched to a heavier one by L'Oreal. We spent one day on the beach in Emerald Isle, I put sunscreen on, however I had gotten so extremely burned on my face, I actually got sun poisoning and had horrible blisters around my cheeks and mouth. After that, I blamed my moisturizer and got a new one. My sister had recently bought the skin care and make up line from Jessica Alba's Honest Beauty company and I really liked it, so I got their trial bag to start off on. I used the moisturizer after cleansing and almost every time I did, it burned a little. A week after using these products, I go to put on the moisturizer and BAM it BURNS, it burned like never before and I knew instantly that I had gotten chemical burn over top of my healing sun poisoning blisters. There was no where else to turn, my skin had become so sensitive that I couldn't risk putting another chemical on it, so I made a trip to LUSH! I told my story to the skin care specializing employee there and she was almost in shock. Immediately we went through the top three products she recommended, detailing what ingredients were in the product, and demoing them all. I finally narrowed it down to Celestial. That night, I went home, cleansed, and put on the most buttery, rich, amazing face moisturizer I have ever experienced on the planet. I felt like a cactus in the desert who hadn't felt rain in months and had been abused by the sun and then a beautiful, purifying, hydrating, rush of a monsoon took over. Am I selling this good enough yet? Stop buying your expensive chemical toxic moisturizer from your fancy beauty stores! Because I'm 18 and this stuff immediately made me feel like I had youthful glowing skin like I hadn't before.
Okay case closed for Celestial, buy it, change your life, let's move onto the next product! Okay, so because my skin had gone through so much, I felt it actually needed a repairing treatment beyond a moisturizer. I was kind of wrong because the moisturizer did the trick, but this face mask is just as amazing and so super necessary especially in the summer and winter when your skin faces the most extreme of weather. So i got the fresh face mask (meaning it has a shelf life of 2 weeks) called Oatifix. The main ingredients are bananas, fine oatmeal, ground almonds, and vanilla. It smells so good you think you could eat it, but please don't eat it. It's a little messy or awkward to put on, so I found it's better to use it with one good thick layer rather than thin. You exfoliate gently when it's ready to come off and when your face is all cleaned up, your skin will feel so enriched with healthy oils, you won't even need to use a moisturizer afterwards.
When I made this trip to Lush, I was looking for highly intense, moisturizing products. Celestial and Oatifix and both very mild products, but their effects are extreme. After using the two, your skin will feel more youthful and refreshed than it ever has in your life. If it isn't already clear, I will never be buying average drugstore moisturizer again. I haven't tried out any of Lush's cleansers yet but I plan to pick one up on my next visit! If you have a product you love from Lush, comment below what it is! I'd love to try something new!
Stay lovely friends, Claire
